I have just finished reading 'Widow's Peak' and thoroughly enjoyed it. What a cracking story on so many levels. The book was a tremendous joy to read. It's a good read and kept me going to the end. The descriptions of Buxton and surrounds were pure 'Escape to the Country' scenery. I thought Eleanor a strong and interesting lead character. I particularly enjoyed the characterisation of Napoleon. It was pure Boxer. I would love to read a sequel. I love murder mysteries and I loved your choice of era. I had no trouble picturing the various characters. Are there any more in the pipeline? When are you talking to the BBC? This would make a good two-part Sunday evening 'who dun it'. Just finished the book which I really enjoyed. I loved Eleanor. I eagerly await the next one. I enjoyed your book. You captured the time perfectly through your use of language and the manner and behaviour of the characters. I think that Buxton as the real setting added to the read, but perhaps best was the way the story did not reveal its climax until the last few pages! A skill indeed! I thoroughly enjoyed Widow’s Peak. I no longer live in Buxton and it brought back so many memories and reminded me of people I used to know. I very much enjoyed Widow's Peak. I live in Derbyshire, so I know and like Buxton. The whole atmosphere evoked by the book was perfect for the plot, the style and the place. I liked the characters, the writing and the puzzle. I'm keeping a lookout for the next. |
